Bryce is turning 1 on Saturday

It is amazing to me that it has been just about a year since we welcomed Bryce into the world. His birthday is on Saturday and we are having a party on Sunday. Just for you Wisk, I have finally taken the time to figure out how to add pictures on this thing. This picture is roughly a month old, and amazingly, they did not have to be posed like this. I will try to put some pictures from the party up after the mess is cleaned up. So until then, take care and check back soon.

A long time again

Another month since I've done this already...Well not a lot going on this month anyway. Tyler was sick with some kind of abdominal ailment last week, and believe it or not, it caused him to vomit for the first time since his baby spit-ups. Talk about strange. Bryce also had a cold for a couple of days as the weather fluctuated so much. And Speaking of Bryce, we are less than 2 weeks away from his birthday. Where does the time go?

relaxation...finally

Now that Amanda and I have a full week off together for the first time since our honeymoon, we decided it was time to go away for a couple of days by ourselves. So with the help of Grammie and Papa Light having Tyler and Bryce stay at their house for a couple of nights, we took off for Portland, ME for 2 nights. It was nice to get away without the boys, but it was just as nice to come home today and see them. Nothing to newsworthy about the trip itself, so I will not bore anyone witht the details. The rest of vacation week will include an oil change for my car, an emissions test for Amanda's car and some other odds-and-ends on Thursday and then Friday we plan to take the boys to the aquarium in Boston. We finish the week attending Katie's 4th birthday party on Saturday. Vacations just are not long enough!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's it for now.

time flies too quick

while realizing it has been a really long time since I posted...time to catch my breath and think about what has happened over the last couple of months. Bryce has pulling himself up to his feet for a while now and is starting to take side-steps while holding the furniture (or pulling my leg hair if that is what is in front of him at that moment). He also has about six teeth coming in right now which is kind of funny to see. Both of the boys were sick at the same time a couple weeks ago, so we had a duel doctor's appointment to find out that Tyler was just about 40 pounds now while suffering from "the Krupp" (not sure about that spelling, but he gets it every year, though it is usually in November). Bryce was beginning an ear infection (his first) so thankfully we caught that really early before he got to miserable and he weighed in at an even 20 pounds already. I think I've got a future linebacker to go with my home run hitter.

Also in the last month or so, I suffered from my 32nd birthday which is no big deal because I haven't cared about my birthday much since turning 21. Finally, today is Amanda and my 6th wedding anniversary. Talk about time flying, can it really be that long that we have been married. I guess that means it has been a very good marriage, because it does not seem that long. But that also got me to thinking that it has been 7 years since the terrible tragedies of 9/11 and I still cannot ever forget that morning listening to the radio and all the coverage and then watching tv late into the night trying to figure out why something like this would be done.

Thanks to having the job I do now, my wife and I are actually enjoying a full week off together in 6 years. That's right folks, I have not had a full week off since our honeymoon. Thank goodness I am not working at the store anymore. That's all for now. Hopefully it will not take so long to post again, but until then, I hope everyone stays safe and healthy and we'll talk soon.

As Promised

Bryce had his appointment with the doctor today and apparently he was quite the hit. Amanda says that before they left the office, Bryce was being passed around like the church collection box. It's tough having 2 adorable little boys and I can only imagine how many girls I am going to have to shoo away in later years. Anyway, the current measurements for our little Incredible Hulk are roughly 28" in height and 18 lbs, 8oz. They say that he is only in about the 5oth-60th percentiles, which is good considering the premature birth, but that is one big boy. Also, he is now starting to get a taste of manly food. The other day at breakfast we gave him tiny amounts of pancakes and tonight at dinner he had some macaroni salad (just the macaroni) and some real green beans.

It is also still amazing how great of a big brother Tyler is. He is very protective of Bryce and very concientious of what he is doing around him. At the doctor's office, Tyler told Mommy that they could not pass him around like that. He also still likes to give him lots of hugs and kisses. The true test is starting now though, as Bryce is crawling and moving very well in his walker. Other than that things are normal here, so until next time, be cool.

Bryce is 9 months today

Hello all,

once again it has been a while, but we have some exciting (I think) news. Bryce has a third tooth, and possibly even a fourth, coming through. But more importantly, just a day before he turned 9 months (that would be yesterday, for those of you who can't figure it out) he has started crawling. That's right, it is now officially time to re-baby proof the house. Oh boy. He has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday, so check back for updates on height and weight some time after that.

Congrats

Today I would like to recognize some recent events that are do our congratulations. First, my father-in-law, Dave, is less than a week from retirement after 38 years in the education field. I can't imagine myself having a career that long, but I guess someday I may reach that point as well. Recently, a dinner was held in Rhode Island to honor the 30 years of service that Dave put in in Scituate and this past weekend Amanda and Melissa threw a surprise retirement (and birthday party) for Dave (and Sue). Also, Courtney has delivered the baby girl that I had predicted for her and Andy. I am currently waiting on details, but we congratulate the Wisk Family and hope that all is well for Momma and Baby (and Poppa, who probably already needs a beer to deal with the impending teenage years of raising a girl). That's all for now.

Bryce has a tooth

As of some time on Tuesday, the first little baby tooth on Bryce finally popped through his gums after at least a few days of extra drool. It is still one of the weirdest things to see a baby's first tooth. It feels like a tooth but doesn't really look like a tooth at first. He has been quite active rolling around on the floor and in his crib. At times it looks like he is going to up and crawl away from us, so I expect to see that in the very near future. That means making sure that all the baby-proofing gets back in place. It is amazing how when you have a child as good as Tyler, who does not open drawers and cabinets he is not supposed to, how lax you get with the safety measures in the house. Poor kid is going to hate us when the safety gates go back up pretty soon. God help us. Anyway, we wish you all a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy!

Tyler hits the Big Top

This past Sunday (which also happened to be Mother's Day, so happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms-to-be out there), Amanda and I took Tyler to the circus in Hartford. Except for the fireworks, he seemed to really enjoy it. The elephants and tigers appeared to be his favorites, but it was really cool to see the expressions on his face for most of the performances. I still cannot figure out how the motorcycles in the cage do not hit each other when they start criss-crossing.
On a side note, everyone will be happy to know that, barring some serious bad luck, I will no longer be able to father a child. The world can now relax because there will only be 2 of my off-spring running around this planet.
Until next time, be safe and talk to you soon.

With love,

Busy times the last couple months

As all of you with any kids knows, they are very time consuming. I thought life moved to fast before having children. But now that Tyler has turned 4 years old more than a month ago, I really have to ask where the time has gone. A couple of weeks ago, Bryce passed the 6 month mark and again I ask myself where the time is going. Well clearly that time is not coming back, so let me catch you all up on a few things. Tyler weighed in at 38 lbs and measured 3ft-5in at his 4yr check-up. I swear he is going to be bigger than me within a few weeks (Uncle Denny almost has to look up already). Bryce's 6mo check-up put him at about 24in and 15lbs. I'd hate to know how big these two would be if they had not been born premature.

As for Amanda and I, outside of not having much time to breathe things are going very well. It's hard to believe, but we have now been married for over 5-1/2 yrs. Amanda is still cutting hair and I am rapidly approaching my 1yr anniversary of being out on the road selling booze. I'd also like to take the time to recognize some big happenings with the family and friends. Our nieces continue to grow very rapidly as well with Katie now 3-1/2 yrs old and Jaime (I hope I spelled that right, but I am very tired right now) celebrating her 1st birthday in March. Our nephew Kyle is now about 2-1/2 yrs old. Our close friends Denny and Mary Beth recently added Angela to their family and their first daughter Alison is approaching her 2nd birthday. Don and Sue also had a recent addition, pairing Andy up with Joey. Finally, and I hate to keep picking on Wisk, but the miracle of all miracles is going to occur soon as Andy and Courtney are awaiting the birth of their first child, which to the chagrin of Andy, I am predicting will be a girl. But I know Andy will be excited either way and I expect that he will be a great father.

We look forward to seeing everyone a soon as possible and hope that you will all enjoy reading and catching up on the goings on in our lives.

With love,

Lee

Welcome to our Blog

In an effort to update the goings on in Willimantic, we have created this new blog to have available for our friends and family to view. I have always been horrendous at picking up the phone to update people about the boys or other things happening in our lives (especially with the fact that every call I make is long distance because Grammy and Papa Light and some of the other Light Clan are the only people who live close). So if you are interested in our lives at all, please keep checking back for updates as I get used to using this thing. Everyboby please take care.

With love,

Lee
